HOW TO TYPE IN HINDI IN WINDOWS?

Good evening to all my dear friends.

Today, I have come with my first topic related to “Computer and Technology”. My Topic is “How to type in Hindi in Windows”.  We all know how to type either in Windows/ Laptops or Smartphones as they have an option of “QWERTY” keyboard.

  •   Now, the question arises that what is a QWERTY keyboard?

ANS.  We all know that keyboard’s Alphabets are completely arranged differently compared to our English Alphabets, we had read in ‘KG’ and ‘UKG’. The first six letters inscribed on that keyboards are ‘Q’, ‘W’, ‘E’, ‘R’, ‘T’ and ‘Y’. Thus, that keyboard is named after those initial six letters. And such alphabetical order is known as QWERTY alphabets.

Another type of keyboard which has the English alphabets in correct order is known as Normal keyboard.

It’s the basic knowledge you should know about a Keyboard. For a normal typer, there is no need to memorize the Keyboard [QWERTY] alphabets. But for being a rapid typing, one should memorize the alphabetical order. But not only memorizing it, will help you, its maximum practice will make you a rapid typist. As someone had said before:

PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT

Ø  CHARACTER CASE: The case in which the characters has been typed is known as Character case. Normally when we write on a paper, we use to write text in two cases: Uppercase and Lowercase. But in Word-processing software like MS-WORD we have given 5 options:

5 CASES GIVEN IN MS WORD

We’ll discuss Character case further in word-processing topic in future.

Now most of us have a mania to write in Hindi language in Windows/Linux. I also was very eager to type in Hindi language in computers when I was in class 6th. Now, I will tell you various methods for typing in Hindi Language in Windows:

1.     USING HINDI FONTS: We can download various Hindi typing Fonts to type in Hindi language.

      1. Just search “Hindi typing Fonts for windows”.

2. Open a trusted site and download fonts.

3. Various Hindi typing fonts are ‘Kruti Dev’, ‘Mangal’ and ‘Devanagari’.

4. Install setup on your computer and start Hindi Typing.

  • Downloading these fonts is easier than work using these fonts as in these fonts, every English alphabet are encoded with other Hindi alphabet which is not the [as it is] pronunciation of that letter in Hindi alphabet. For example, if we type “C” in these fonts we will not get “ in Hindi, instead we get ‘म’ or ‘ऋ’. Also, in most alphabets we get different Hindi alphabets or symbols by switching Caps LockON’ or ‘OFF’. So, we have to make a chart of this system or memorize it, which is an awful and tedious job.

2.     THROUGH ANY WEBSITE PLATFORM: There are numerous platforms available on internet for typing in many local languages such as, Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu etc. I don’t know much about other local languages, but I can tell you the process of typing in Hindi. In my opinion there is a site “India typing”, where we can get such a platform.

1. Search “INDIA TYPING” in google chrome.

2. Here, at your right you will get a drop-down list for typing in many languages, click on Hindi typing.

3. A white blank space board will appear in front of you. here you have to type the Hindi words using English letters and hit spacebar or enter and the word you typed will automatically get converted to Hindi. For example: type “mera” and hit space you will see it gets converted to “मेरा”.

  •  Well, there is no issue of letter case or character case, type freely in any of the cases and your characters Will be converted to Hindi.
  •  According to me, it is the best, most effective and easiest way for typing in Hindi for online users.

3.     USING A BILINGUAL KEYBOARD: Such keyboards already have an inscribed Hindi letters with English letters on the same keys and a button to switch either languages. It is usually costly than a simple keyboard. It is also a nice method for offline users.
